Account Information
I registered an account but did not receive the confirmation e-mail!
You can use this form to delete the account so you can re-register with the same username. Note though that if you didn't receive the email the first time it will probably not succeed the second time either so you should try another email address.
I've lost my user name or password! Can you send it to me?
Please use this form to have the login details mailed back to you.
Can you rename my account?
We do not rename accounts; you'll have create a new one. (Use this form to delete your present account.)
Why is my IP displayed on my details page?
Only you and the site moderators can view your IP address and email. Regular users do not see that information.
Help! I cannot login!? (a.k.a. Login of Death)
If you find you cannot login, delete all your cookies for this site, and hit CTRL-F5 on the login page to do a full cache refresh before trying again. If you still cannot login, try deleting all your cookies or switching to a different browser (the problem is most common with Internet Explorer).
My IP address is dynamic. How do I stay logged in?
This is no longer an issue - now, all you have to do is make sure you are logged in with your actual IP when starting a torrent session. After that, even if the IP changes mid-session, the seeding or leeching will continue and the statistics will update without any problem.
How do I add an avatar to my profile?
First, find an image that you like which is within the rules. Then find a place to host it, such as our own Image Cauldron. (Other popular choices are Photobucket, Upload-It! or ImageShack). All that is left to do is copy the URL you were given when uploading it to the avatar field in your profile. Please do not make a post just to test your avatar. If everything is allright you'll see it in your details page.
What's a "passkey"?
A passkey is a 32-character (hex) string associated with your account that uniquely identifies you as a CG user. Your passkey can be found on your user details page. When a .torrent file is downloaded from your account, the passkey is automatically added to the announce URL in the .torrent file. It is this passkey which helps the tracker maintain all of your torrent-related statistics and so spreading the .torrent files you've downloaded from here further outside CG, will surely jeopardise your account. Your passkey may be shown in your torrent client (such as in the Tracker URL at the bottom in uTorrent) or your CG Details page, so be careful about posting screenshots.
Why would I need to reset my passkey?
You can use this feature to generate a new passkey for your account. Remember that the passkey uniquely identifies you, therefore if someone discovered it they would be able to leech from your account. Should you suspect that your key has been compromised, it is best to just create a new one.
Note: By using this feature you will invalidate all the .torrent files that you previously downloaded, and will have to download them again.
When are accounts auto-pruned from the site?
- Accounts are pruned when 50 days have elapsed since the last recorded activity. Please note that torrent traffic does not count as site activity - you have to login.
- The accounts of Power Users and above will never be pruned.
- Unused accounts (accounts which have never used the tracker) are deleted after 20 days inactive.
- Banned users are pruned 120 days after being banned.
- Defective accounts are pruned 30 days after being demoted.
How do I delete my account?
Firstly, if you have racked up any download amount, you will need to have a ratio greater than or equal to 1.0 to delete your account. This is to stop people with poor ratios simply deleting their account and signing up again to level their ratio. If you don't meet this requirement, and you no longer need your account, then just don't log in any more – it will be automatically deleted after 30 days. If you meet this requirement, and still wish to delete your account, then go here.
Multiple IPs (Can I login from different computers?)
Yes, the tracker is now capable of following sessions from different IPs for the same user. A torrent is associated with the user when it starts, and only at that moment is the IP relevant. So if you want to seed/leech from computer A and computer B with the same account you should access the site from computer A, start the torrent there, and then repeat both steps from computer B (not limited to two computers or to a single torrent on each, this is just the simplest example). You do not need to login again when closing the torrent.
