I took the French vhs rip posted here by capncapn, http://cinemageddon.org/details.php?id=39790, and the Spanish audio from this post by filipo, http://cinemageddon.org/details.php?id=4613&hit=1. Subs were used from filipo's post as well, but edited and re-timed. This was not the easiest, but my fandubbing of CASTLE OF THE LIVING DEAD prepped me for this one. Doesn't help not knowing Spanish, lemme tell ya.
What I found is that the French version from capncapn had a lot of print damage to it and may very well have been edited as well. Therefore, I did have to edit the audio accordingly, but I think worked out pretty well. I'm not skilled enough to re-encode the different files for inserting the b&w parts that are missing – I felt that would be mucking too much with the original compressed sources. And, matching the audio and re-timing of the subs was enough for me. There was one scene that was particularly difficult and had to be done after the rest of the movie was finished (the scene in which Black Mask and his minions are watching Santo & his friends after they return from the crypt with Drac's medallion – it was really cut up and I had to use the English subs to make some sense of what they may have been talking about in the edited scene – I may have not even nailed it exactly as it should've been but I think I did well enough). I cut off the French video title sequence and have included the Spanish b&w title sequence with its subs (all of one line! woo!).
