We start with a doctor being spooked by strange sounds outside of his house. He quickly enters and locks his door, but we somehow know that won't help this guy here. His phone is cut off, his power's cut off and yes, his life is then cut off (in somewhat, bloody fashion). Not a bad start at all.
This movie is about a nice young man who has a penchant for carrying around a basket wherever he goes. He checks into a sleazy hotel (in New York City) and decides to pay a few visits to some local doctors. We are unaware of the reason, but are made wise early on that the basket he carries contains something pretty scary (and very hungry for fast food burgers and hot dogs). Things take a slight twist when he decides to date the blue eyed receptionist at his first doctor's visit.
This is a pretty funny little low budgeter from Frank Henenlotter. It has some stop motion silliness that make you think the effects guys from “The Lost World”(1925) were reincarnated for the task. It has a few decent bloody scenes, a tad bit of nudity (including our young friend) and some much appreciated laughter with our blobby, little monster. The acting's pretty much laughable as well, but it keeps one entertained the whole way through.
A fine little popcorn muncher. Recommended viewing.
