BLOOD FOR DRACULA

This film is one my favorites. In “Blood for Dracula, the Count has lost all its charm. With the desire of being immortal, Dracula (Udo Kier) reaches the twentieth century, when the blood of “wirgins” is extremely rare.

Concerned about his health, Dracula and his butler leave Romania and head to Italy, where they assume that, thanks to Catholicism, there are still virgins there… The butler makes inquiries, while the Count, in a wheelchair and whiter than usual, suffers as a junkie his necesity for blood of virgins.

“We must go to Italy… there, we can find wirgins.”

They find out that the noble Di Fiore family has four unmarried daughters ready to be married to the first aristocrat knocking on the door. The Count then visits the Di Fiores and announces his interest to marry one of them as long as she’s still a virgin. If only he knew…

“The blood of these whores is killing me!!!”

One of the two horror comedies Morrissey made in Italy in 1974, Blood or Dracula is the funnier (and the better, imo). Udo Kier is unforgettable in his role as Dracula, as is Dallesandro in his role as the comunist butler of the Di Fiores. Look out for Vittorio de Sica, as Marchese Di Fiori, and Roman Polanski, as an uncredited “man in tevern”. I highly recommend this film as I do everything directed by Morrissey. Don’t miss it.
